IP Vietnam issues Notice No. 5130/TB-SHTT dated 25 December 2025 on the unified application of the International Classification of Goods and Services under the Nice Agreement

The Intellectual Property Office of Vietnam hereby announces that the International Classification of Goods and Services under the Nice Agreement, Version 13-2026, was published by the Intellectual Property Office of Vietnam on its official electronic portal on 28 December 2025 and will be officially applied in Vietnam from 01 January 2026.

Pursuant to Appendix I – Part II of Decree No. 65/2023/ND-CP dated 23 August 2023 of the Government, which provides detailed regulations and measures for the implementation of a number of articles of the Law on Intellectual Property regarding industrial property, protection of industrial property rights, rights to plant varieties, and state management of intellectual property, from 01 January 2026, in the section “List and Classification of Goods and Services Bearing the Trademark”, applicants are required to classify goods and services in accordance with the International Classification of Goods and Services under the Nice Agreement, Version 13-2026.

In cases where the applicant fails to classify or incorrectly classifies the goods and services, the Intellectual Property Office of Vietnam shall carry out the classification, and the applicant shall be required to pay the classification fee in accordance with the applicable regulations.

During the course of implementation, should any difficulties or issues arise, relevant parties are requested to promptly report them to the Intellectual Property Office of Vietnam (via the Industrial Property Information Center) for consideration and resolution.
