IP Vietnam Grants Deadline Relief to Applicants Affected by the Kumamoto Earthquake, Japan

Following the earthquake that struck Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan on July 28, 2026, the Intellectual Property Office of Vietnam (IP Vietnam) has issued Notice No. 3758/TB-SHTT, allowing the period during which an applicant was unable to act due to the earthquake to be excluded from the applicable statutory time limit.

This relief covers procedures such as: priority right claims, supplementation of documents, responses to office actions/decisions, renewal of protection titles, payment of fees and charges, and filing of complaints.

Conditions for application: Applicants must specify the affected period and submit confirmation from a competent authority in Japan.
